Why Summer Event in Albania?!

Not so long ago, when the Balkans were considered an ‘only for the brave’ travel destination, only the bravest of the brave trickled into Albania. Since backpackers started coming to elusive Albania in the 1990s, tales have been told in ‘keep it to yourself’ whispers of azure beaches, comfortingly good cuisine, heritage sites, nightlife, affordable adventures and the possibility of old-style unplanned journeys complete with open-armed locals for whom travelers are still a novelty. Sick to death of being dismissed with blinged-up crime-boss clichés, Albania has announced ‘A New Mediterranean Love’ via its tourist board. The jig is almost up – Albania won’t be off the beaten track for much longer and you’ll become the ones that loudly will say: YES I WAS THERE.

We are sure that all of you have many things to do this summer and many European places that you want to visit but Would you like to explore some of them in the same time? If your answer is YES, then this is the right summer university that you need. (this part I didn’t submit at the online application)
Event Description

Event Description

Our Summer University is concepted as a mix between lectures and fun, workshops and cities tours, role plays and party times. During the event we will try to address Youth Perspectives in youth work and all connected issues by means of non-formal learning, based on your experience, your motivation, your needs and your own learning objectives.

What does it means? It means for instance, that you are at our Summer Event because you wanted to yourself, and not because anyone told you that you have to be here or not. It also means that you are responsible for your own learning, while the team and the group support you. And it certainly means that your feedback is valid and important and will be used to organize different summer events like you have not done it before.

It definitely means that we do not control what you have learned by means of any sort of
test. We will not award you a diploma stating that you have completed the training with an
average grade for example of 1,3 GPA. You will decide what to learn and which key competences you intend to develop through active participation in the trainings and workshops that we will offer during this Summer Event.

It means that this will not be a series of serious lectures (mixed even with the fun) on the Youth Participation, Multilinguistic, European institutions, European Identity and European Citizenship. This Summer University will not be a training of/for trainers on European Citizenship, Youth Participation or anything else! Nevertheless, the team is open to share their experiences during the lectures and training time on/for/through Youth Participation, Multilinguistic, European institutions, European Identity and European Citizenship should you be interested in methodological aspects or curriculum development. And, let’s not forget that non-formal learning also means facing a challenge, experiencing and learning to cope with quite a bit of stress, but also – lots of fun!
