UNICEF in collaboration with Sarajevo Talent Campus supports young film talents to focus on excluded children
“Unite for Children, Unite for Social Inclusion” is the key message of a joint initiative initiated by UNICEF and the Sarajevo Talent Campus, the educational and networking programme of the Sarajevo Film Festival. In order to increase understanding among decision-makers and the wider public about the nature and the scope of child poverty and social exclusion of children, UNICEF is inviting young film authors to submit their short films illustrating or addressing these issues. The initiative is a part of UNICEF’s project on social protection and inclusion supported by the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DfID). “The purpose of this competition is to encourage young film makers to focus more on children’s issues, and to tap their creative talents to communicate the different dimensions and realities of children living in exclusion and poverty. The best short films will be used in programme activities promoting dialogue on the challenges and furthering action advancing social inclusion and child rights.” – said June Kunugi, UNICEF Representative in BiH.

The Call for Entries will remain open for submissions until April 2009. The Selection Committee will be composed of UNICEF representatives from BiH and abroad, a film director from the Region and by representatives of the Sarajevo Talent Campus, and a member of the Sarajevo Film Festival. The competition is open for short fiction or documentary films of maximum duration of 15 minutes.

The best two films selected by the Committee will receive grants in the amount of 3,000 and 2,000 EUR respectively, to be invested in the production of the author´s subsequent film project addressing social issues.
